Meet our Superhero of the Month for November: Donna Stavros!

Our incredible super hero of the month for November, Donna Stavros has been with Mo-Mentum Fitness since we opened. For the last 6 years, Donna has been a bright light while continuing to be the life of the party. She is everyone’s cheerleader, an awesome singer and if you need to laugh she can help you with that too!

Donna is a lifer to fitness as she has has worked out consistently for many years. She understands the importance of health both emotionally and physically. Donna’s success in the gym translates to happiness in all other areas of her life. She is the perfect example of power of community. Donna is the first to step up to encourage someone who is struggling. She is also courageous in asking for help when needed rather than allowing her physical or emotional health to suffer.

Donna is one who takes exercise and life in stride. She loves to move her body. She loves to try new classes. She understands that balance is key. She works at high intensities a few days a week and at lower intensities other days of the week. She incorporates strength, cardio, Yoga and Pilates so she can strengthen her body for the long term. Donna knows fitness is a life long journey.

We chose Donna as the super hero for November because she makes fitness a priority, she’s “in” for life and she makes it fun too! Donna is an inspiration for women who are trying to do it all and accidentally put them-selves last. She makes it a point to prioritize her workouts and over all health so that she can be fully present for her family and friends. As a frequent flyer and traveler of the world, Donna still makes time to get back in to Mo-Mentum to get her exercise in and to connect with her tribe!

Donna generally comes to the middle morning classes, however when she needs to get her exercise in, I’ve seen her at 5:30am classes, 6:30pm classes and Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Regardless of what life throws at her, Donna makes it work. She is one of our most consistent cheerleaders for others, and she just makes us all smile! She is on a mission to create her most extraordinary life by taking care of herself so she can continue to be an incredible mother, wife, and friend so she may be fully present for HERSELF, family, and friends.

Donna you are an incredible woman and we are so honored that you have shared your journey with us and inspired more people than you know along the way. You are a Wonder Woman! Thank you for inspiring all of us here at Mo-Mentum Donna! We love you girl!

Q & A with our Superhero herself:

Q- Describe what your life (and your health) was like before Mo-Mentum.

A- Well, I have always been an active and athletic person since I was a young girl and always participated in sports, but as I grow older, I’m realizing you must find a place that inspires you and pushes you to be the best you can be.

Q- Was there ever a low point or an experience that made your priorities change?

A- There has never been a low point, thank God I could say that! With the births of my children, I was not able to workout and, of course, being a mother of four, sometimes it was hard to find time, but I always made it a priority to get some sort of exercise in.

Q- How did Mo-Mentum Fitness come into your life (or back into your life)?

A- Mo-Mentum Fitness came into my life about six years ago, but I have known Amanda for about ten years! She trained my husband prior to me working out with her. I was doing kickboxing three days a week and yoga, but I felt I needed to incorporate more weights and some spin. I felt I needed something else/more, and I found the perfect place for that here!!

Q- What kind of results have you seen since becoming a member at Mo-Mentum?

A- Since working out at Mo-Mentum, my body has changed so much! I am definitely stronger, leaner, and my cardio is way better! I feel good, and it is such an inspiring group of people to work out with!

Q- Let’s focus in on the blood work. What kind of changes have you seen? What do these changes mean for you lifestyle, longevity, finances, etc.?

A- Since I workout five to six days a week, my cholesterol has dropped, and my body fat percentage has dropped a lot also. I am healthy, and it just makes me feel good!

Q- Why do you make Mo-Mentum Fitness a priority in your life?

A- Because I like to work out. I like all the inspiring people and all the friends I have made there. I like everything about Mo-Mentum! Sometimes you don’t feel like going places to workout, but I have never felt that here! I look forward to Yumi teach me and try to figure out what she’s saying, or Alex and those arms makes me keep peddling and lifting. Laura, Carleen, and Elena are all so inspiring! I love all the trainers because everyone is so unique and different, and that is what makes me get up and want to go workout! Of course, Amanda is amazing; she is the reason I’m there. I would not change a thing or go anywhere else!

Q- These days, what makes truly happy and feel at peace?

A- I love my family time. My time with my husband and family are my priority! They make me feel whole and keep me laughing all the time, which is so important. I’m excited to be a grandmother for the first time: my daughter will have a baby in January. I love hanging out with my friends: coffee time, laughing, and just enjoying life!

Q- How do you feel compared to 1 year ago?

A- I would have to say healthier, more focused now on strength and nutrition. I have seen a lot of changes in my body in the past year!
