Q & A
Meet Elisa, Mo-Mentum Fitness’s Superhero of April 2019! She definitely is a superhero!
Describe what your life (and your health) was like before fitness
“I was a single mother for most of my daughter’s life. I gave all my focus, time and attention to her. After she left to college, I had so much time on my hands. I realized that for 18 years I didn’t really have any goals or even a need to better myself, so I made that a priority. It’s been so much fun setting goals and checking them off my list. I’m even doing my first weight lifting competition next weekend. So excited!”
Was there ever a low point or an experience that made your priorities change
“I wouldn’t say it was a low point, but I had a 40th birthday that was coming really fast. I made up my mind that just because I was getting older, it didn’t mean that I had to look or feel older. I wanted to hit that milestone looking and feeling better than ever, and I crushed that goal!”
How did fitness come into your life (or back into your life)?
“I had been working out on my own but didn’t have the motivation to push myself to be better and stronger. I saw a Facebook ad for Mo-mentum and decided to give it a shot. Best decision ever!
What kind of results have you seen since starting a regular fitness program?
“Simple day to day activities like tying my shoes, getting in and out of the bathtub, balancing, keeping up with my daughter, nieces and nephews, long walks, etc. are so much easier now.”
Why do you make fitness a priority in your life?
“Working out has made me more conscious of my daily habits. I eat a lot healthier, plan healthier activities, and make sure to get enough sleep. Because of this I feel better than ever.”
Please talk more about the actual changes in your life?
“I never thought I would be able to say that I get excited to work out and actually look forward to it. I’ve become an endorphin junkie, made great friends at the gym, have the best trainers, and have never been happier.”
Let’s focus in on the blood work. What kind of changes have you seen? What do these changes mean for you lifestyle, longevity, finances, etc.?
” I had high triglycerides at my checkup prior to starting at Mo-mentum. My numbers on my last checkup were all PERFECT! Also, when I first went to Mo-mentum, I couldn’t hang from a bar for more than five seconds. Now I can do unassisted pull ups and have no problem with hanging. Amanda says grip strength is correlated to life expectancy and heart health so I’m hoping to live a longer, healthier life.”
These days what makes you truly happy and feel at peace?
“Knowing that my daughter is happy and following her dreams makes me feel at peace. Knowing that I am striving to better myself makes me truly happy!”
How do you feel compared to 1 year ago?
“I feel stronger and so much happier. I used to be so concerned with my weight on the scale and now I only care about the weight on the barbell.”
SPECIFICS? JOB? AGE? CHILDREN?
“I’m 40, have a new job as an Inside Sales Specialist for a great company and have the most amazing 18 year old daughter named Serah who attends CSULB.”
