Superhero of the Month – Tim Nguyen
-Amanda Mittleman
Q & A
Meet Tim, Mo-Mentum Fitness’s Superhero of February! He definitely is a superhero!
Describe what your life (and your health) was like before fitness
“Before working out, I was taking high blood pressure medication due to high cholesterol levels. Although, I looked fit from the outside, I was far from being fit on the inside.”
Was there ever a low point or an experience that made your priorities change?
“ Yes, I was not liking the way my clothes fit and how I looked compared to my younger years.”
How did fitness come into your life (back into your life)?
“It was about 4 years ago in January 2014, when Mo-Mentum Fitness newly opened. My wife, Thuy, and I were shopping for a local gym that we could start working out at. We met with Amanda, and decided to try Mo-Mentum. We started out with Small Group and Group Fitness. It was very painful working out again after 20+ years. However, the encouragement of the trainers and other team members made us come back day after day.“
What kind of results have you seen since starting a regular fitness program?
“I normally work out at Mo-Mentum Fitness 4-5 days a week. Besides increasing my endurance, I’ve transformed my body fat into muscle. I lost a pant size and fit better in my slim fitted clothes.”
Please talk more about the actual changes in your life. (Weight loss, confidence, more endurance, less medications, increased energy, better relationships, etc.)
“Before Mo-Mentum Fitness, I was not healthy. Although I looked healthy on the outside, I was not feeling healthy internally. The commitment to working out 1 hour per day has changed my life for the better. Now, 4 years later, I can truly say that I’m in better shape than I was my 20’s. Besides changing my life, Mo-Mentum Fitness has changed my wife’s life as well (Thuy).”
Let’s focus on the blood work. What kind of changes have you seen there? What do these changes mean for your lifestyle, longevity, finances, etc.?
” Since I’ve started working out, I no longer take any high cholesterol medication. I am healthier than I’ve ever been in my life.”
Why do you make fitness a priority in your life?
“I like how fit I look and how good I feel. I have made working out and staying fit a part of my daily life. I look forward to my daily workouts.”
These days, what makes you truly happy and feel at peace?
“I know that I will live longer and happier. Good health is the key to a happy, long life. My family and good health make me happy and fulfilled.”
How do you feel compared to 1 year ago?
” I’ve been coming to Mo-Mentum for 4 full years and 2018 will be my fifth year. I feel healthier than ever before and feel that I’ve extended my life and have lowered my risk of heart disease (My father died from a heart attack).”
I am 48 years old. I work in technology sales. My spouse is Thuy. We have two children: an 18 year old son (Tristan) and 13 year old daughter (Emma).
