January 2019 Superhero of the Month

Superhero of the Month –
Greg Loboda

Congratulations Greg! You are definitely a superhero!

Team Mo and I chose our SUPER HERO OF THE MONTH based on several important factors that we believe reflect the values on which the Mo-Mentum Fitness world-class culture has been built upon.

Mo-Mentum’s Core Values include:

  • Mindset for Growth, constant never ending learning….if you’re not growing you’re shrinking
  • Over deliveron all we do
  • Tribewe all need an incredible tribe! We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.
  • TransparencyWe believe in honesty and being transparent
  • Vitality- we believe in living vibrantly and all out

Greg is a REAL leader, but not because he’s six feet tall with a very serious facial expression most of the time but because he works at it every single day.  He has a mindset for growth and is constantly trying to learn how to help others to lead, how to communicate better and how to influence people to bring out the best in them.  More truth be told, Greg is one of the kindest, hard working and most interesting people you will ever meet.

Dedicated to his goals, his family, his health and to his friends, Greg is the kind of man that will be there when you need him.  When Mo-Mentum needed to get our mats hung on the wall, Greg offered to help.  When we needed our Hex bars hung up on the wall, Greg offered to help.  If lose your keys, Greg will be the guy scouring the floor with you.

Greg shows up to his workouts and he’s always all in, whether he’s working on building strength or stretching and relaxing his mind in yoga.  He understands that as long as he maintains his health all things are possible.  If you need inspiration, watch Greg Laboda.  He walks his talk, leads with his mind and heart and lives extraordinary!

Love Amanda

Q & A

Meet Greg, Mo-Mentum Fitness’s Superhero of  January 2019! He definitely is a superhero!

Describe what your life (and your health) was like before fitness

“Since my 20s, I’ve prided myself on being a very talented, hard-working professional with an inherent athleticism, robust health and desire to excel physically. As I got older, my responsibilities as an engineer, as a spouse, and as a parent grew more complex, leaving little time for physical fitness. After I hit 40, it was clear I didn’t have the stamina and strength I once did. Old injuries I suffered playing college football or from motorcycle accidents in my youth became chronic aches and pains that kept me up at night. I gained enough weight to where my hips hurt. However, I still made the excuse that I couldn’t sacrifice the time and energy I was putting into everything else in my life.”

Was there ever a low point or an experience that made your priorities change

In 2016-17, I recognized that my career was sapping the energy out of me, leaving me with little left for my personal growth and development. I needed a positive outlet to help me out of my mental ruts in order to reassess who I was and to breathe new life back into my old talents and priorities.”

How did fitness come into your life (or back into your life)?

In April 2017, my wife Janice won a 6-week fitness challenge membership at Mo-mentum. While she too had not participated in any organized exercise for many years, she embraced the challenge. Both her physical and mental transformation in those few weeks were remarkable. It made me wonder what I was missing, so I took the plunge and joined Mo-mentum.”

What kind of results have you seen since starting a regular fitness program?

“There are too many to list, the least of which is the loss of 20 lbs, and keeping it off, despite maintaining a crazy work and travel schedule. My strength, stamina and flexibility from youth has returned (or maybe even grown). My old injuries have abated. My discipline, focus and patience have improved measurably, especially when work stress is high and deadlines are tight. Most importantly, exercising jointly with Janice offers a built-in accountability partner who serves as an outstanding role model to me and our family.”

Why do you make fitness a priority in your life?

“Quite simply, the journey I’m on requires me to be the best person I can be each day. My mind and soul are the pilot, but my body is vehicle that carries me. Without all three working at their best, I cannot achieve my long-term goals.”

These days what makes you truly happy and feel at peace?

“Reviewing my personal mission statement:

“To serve as a transformative agent to individuals and organizations with passion and urgency to change the world and improve themselves.”

When I can exercise my core values (service, ingenuity, ownership and trust) each day in a meaningful way for the benefit of others, I know that my time here is well spent and leaves a positive legacy for others to enjoy.”

How do you feel compared to 1 year ago?

“Progressively stronger, more focused and in control of my choices, my priorities and my future. My combined mental and physical health are much better than they have been in many long years, and I am eternally grateful for the instrumental role Mo-mentum has played in it.”
