Meet our Superhero of the Month for January: Denise Winslow!
Denise Winslow is a bright light at Mo-Mentum. She’s an incredible example of perception, participation and perseverance.
In today’s world, it’s easier (and encouraged) to look for the quick fix to level up our health and lose weight. But in 2023 we know the truth…. there’s just no quick fix that works for LONG-TERM weight loss and especially to up level our health.
Denise found herself in a spot where her health, fitness and body composition (weight) were not optimal and the rest of her life was suffering for it.
Here’s what Denise knew that many other women may not know…Yet….
Start with one key stone commitment and make it a habit.
A key stone habit is like the rock you throw into a smooth pond. It’s ripples eventually touch the entire pond.
Exercise is a keystone habit. It’s a habit that makes other habits easier to stick to later. When you exercise, it’s easier to clean up your eating. Exercise helps you sleep better. Exercise helps to heal your metabolism, so it becomes more flexible making it easier to build lean muscle and burn fat.
I think we can all relate to this…starting an exercise program, AND ALSO drinking 100 ounces of water a day, AND ALSO eating 100% clean, AND ALSO sleeping 8 hours every night, AND ALSO meditating 10 minutes twice a day AND ALSO saying only kind words ALL in the same week is nearly impossible!
We do this because we have a vision for our lives and we want it today. But transformation takes time.
Denise focused on exercise to get herself back on track. Later, she joined our 6-Week transformation challenge which focuses on nutrition and other habits that help to increase our energy and improve our overall wellness.
Denise committed to her health. She still shows up several days a week to exercise. She surrounds herself with a community of people that cheers her on and contributes to her mindset in a positive way.
We’ve all watched Denise transform over the past several months. She’s inspired Team Mo and Mo-Tribe and her friends and family too!
We’ve been fortunate to get to watch as Denise’s eyes became brighter, her energy became more vibrant, her smile grow bigger and her body grew stronger. She’s an absolute inspiration!
One of the most POWERFUL answers Denise shared with us was that she feels like a leader for her family today. When we get to the bottom of WHY we want to lose weight, the answer will eventually come to feeling happy, more present and more empowered.
As moms, wives, professionals, friends and family members, we are in a leadership role all day long. We are most effective as leaders when we feel good in our own skin, when we can think clearly and when we have the energy to show up as the woman (or man) we want to be.
Thank you for inspiring us, Denise! Thank you for sharing your beautiful, bright smile, your energy and your friendship with us all! You are an incredible woman, and we are grateful you are a part of Mo-Tribe!
xoxo,
Amanda and Team Mo

Describe what your life (and your health) was like before fitness.
I had high blood pressure, depression and was tired a lot, low energy and stressed.
Was there ever a low point or an experience that made your priorities change?
When my clothes were too tight and the scale was over the top.
How did fitness come into your life (or back into your life)?
I started to do some soul searching on what made me happy. I was always happier after exercising.
What kind of results have you seen since starting a regular fitness program
I feel I have a better outlook on life. I try to keep a consistent schedule of five or six days a week.
Please talk more about the actual changes in your life?
I have lost inches and 15 lbs. I look forward to seeing me gym friends at 5:30 every morning.
Let’s focus on blood work. What kind of changes have you seen there? What do these changes mean for your lifestyle, longevity, finances, etc.?
My doctor was so excited to see my health had improved so much that she wanted to join us at Mo-mentum fitness. I lost weight do not have to take any medication for blood pressure or anything else. She said if only all my patience could work out hour a day it would change their health.
Why do you make fitness a priority in your life?
Because it makes me happy, gives me strength, helps me relieve stress and gives me more energy. Also I feel it makes me a leader for my family to be a good example for them to exercise.
These days, what makes truly happy and feel at peace?
I feel great not having to go to the doctors because I am healthy. I feel stronger I have muscles and I sleep better at night.
How do you feel compared to 1 year ago?
I was tired all the time and unhappy and way over weight with low muscle strength.
What is your favorite thing about Mo-Mentum Fitness?
It feels like family to me everyone is so welcoming and encouraging, all the instructors really care.
What would you say to the person who knows they need to start exercising but is afraid to start?
Go to Mo-Mentum Fitness and they will help you every step of the way. Also, NO EXCUSES! You can’t wish it, you have to make changes and put fitness in your schedule so it is part of your daily routine.
