Superhero of the Month – Cindy Sandozequi

Congratulations Cindy Sandozequi! You are definitely a superhero!

I still remember the first day I met Cindy Sandozequi.  Her bright eyes and her kind heart make it easy to like her even before really know her.  Cindy is one of the kindest and most beautiful people inside and out that you will ever meet.  You may think why does Cindy work so hard?  She’ll already thin.  There’s two answers to this question.  Number one because Cindy understands that her muscles move her bones and to stay out of pain and to live a quality life for the next 50 years exercise is essential.  She also understands that quality movement will help her create more energy, burn fat to stay thin, keep her muscles strong and send the message to her body and her brain that she is thriving.

Second, Cindy knows that it is easier to keep weight off than it is to lose it.  She, like many Mo-Tribe members, understands that living healthyis a lifestyle and not a quick fix 6-week solution.  She understands that our 6-week challenges are meant to help us dig deeper and get closer to our goals but they are only 6-weeks…..after that we must continue to adopt the habits we learned during the (3 or 4 or 5 or) 6-week challenge.

Cindy works hard to maintain her health but also to become stronger, healthier and more vibrant. She doesn’t listen to her own excuses to skip a class or to take a month of clean eating.  If you need someone to inspire you, to give you a hug and to share her upbeat energy with you, just stand next to Cindy and you will feel her gentle, vibrant and loving energy.  Thank you for inspiring us Cindy!  We couldn’t think of a more suited Super Hero of the month for June!! Xoxoxo Amanda

She definitely is a superhero!

Describe what your life (and your health) was like before fitness

I had always thought I was in okay shape, eating pretty well, and visiting another gym maybe once every other month, if that. I would always put my families needs before mine, whatever it may be, leaving very little time for me. At the end of my long days, I would always be too tired to even think about exercising so I never really got around to it.

Was there ever a low point or an experience that made your priorities change?

“On March 21st , 2015, my mom was on a girls weekend trip and suffered from a heart attack and died before I could reach her. She was in perfect health and it was just a complete shock. I found out later that she was struggling even walking down the street and had shortness of breath. She kept it to herself because she didn’t want to complain or worry anyone. I knew I needed to take care of myself and get in better shape. I needed to make myself a priority so that my two daughters didn’t go through what I did.”

How did fitness come into your life (back into your life)?

My sweet friend, Michelle Jean, invited me to spin class at Mo-Mentum back in November of 2016. The tough part was that the class was at 5:30 in the morning and I had to be a work at 8:45. As much as I wanted to try spin, I was a little reluctant to commit to such an early time. I told myself I need to try new things and I went! I was completely blown away at how warm and welcoming everyone was. The trainer, Alex, was so energetic and supportive as I could barely stand up on the bike since I was really out of shape. As soon as I walked out of class, I knew right then and there that this was for me and there was no going back.”

What kind of results have you seen since starting a regular fitness program?

“I have gained consistency, I feel better, I am stronger, and I am more accountable. I don’t use anymore excuses to not workout and the words, “I can’t,” has been thrown out of my dictionary.”

Please talk more about the actual changes in your life. (Weight loss, confidence, more endurance, less medications, increased energy, better relationships, etc.)

“In the last year and half since making the commitment to myself to be in better shape, I have realized this my way of life and eating right and exercise had become of my daily regimen. I have lost the right amount of weight to help me feel better about myself and I have gained a lot of muscle. The most important change is that I have become a much stronger woman than I have ever been. I have more confidence in myself to stand next to these outstanding women who keep me coming back.”

Why do you make fitness a priority in your life?

“Luckily, I have had no health issues or problems that have been a point of contention. I definitely have more energy and just feel overall in the best physical shape of my life.”
Let’s focus in on the blood work. What kind of changes have you seen their? What do these changes mean for you lifestyle, longevity, finances, etc.?
“Luckily, I have had no health issues or problems that have been a point of contention. I definitely have more energy and just feel overall in the best physical shape of my life.”

These days, what makes you truly happy and feel at peace?

“I have to be accountable for me because I am in charge of my destiny and fitness plays a huge role in that. It’s imperative that I am here for my girls, my family and to hopefully share what I have learned from my friends at Mo-Mentum – Take Care of You.”

How do you feel compared to 1 year ago?

“Truly blessed! I feel healthier, stronger, energized, committed, and valued.”

SPECIFICS? JOB? AGE? CHILDREN?

“I am 53 years old. I work at Bank of the West as the Senior Service Office and Assistant Vice President in Huntington Beach for 27 years. I have two daughters, Brianna, 25, and Ally, 22. I have a wonderful boyfriend, Larry Kemp, and he has three kids. Jim, 26, Kayley, 25, and Tommy, 20, who I just love and adore as if they were my own. We have been a family for over five years and we are still going strong. I have been truly blessed to have met some wonderful friends on my path at Mo-Mentum. They truly inspire me everyday and I call them my “Guardians of Strength.” Without them I wouldn’t be the person who I am today and for that, I am truly grateful.”
