Q and A
Describe what your life (and your health) was like before Mo-Mentum Fitness.
– not very active, ate without thinking. Always tired, definitely no cardio conditioning
Was there ever a low point or an experience that made your priorities change?
-I don’t think it was one thing but I do remember always thinking I needed to do something or I wasn’t going to see my daughters grow up.
How did Mo-Mentum Fitness come into your life (or back into your life)?
-I did have a coach at one time, but it didn’t work out, I don’t think I was truly in the right mindset and ready for change, even though my mouth was saying I wanted to change. Then my friend had invited me to her gym and everything just clicked.
What kind of results have you seen since starting a regular Mo-Mentum Fitness program?
-Well, not only have I lost weight but I’ve ran some 5k trail races, did a Spartan and 10K trail race. I never could do anything like this before. Wow, when I really think about how far I’ve come….I can’t believe it.
Please talk more about the actual changes in your life?
– I try to be mindful of what I’m eating, because nutrition has always been my biggest struggle. I continue to work on it and take it day by day.
Let’s focus in on the blood work. What kind of changes have you seen? What do these changes mean for you lifestyle, longevity, finances, etc.?
– Since I’ve been on this journey, my husband has also lost weight because we eat differently. We cook more meals at home instead of going out, but don’t get me wrong, I still go out just not like before.
Why do you make Mo-Mentum Fitness a priority in your life?
-Well, for my physical health but must importantly my mental health. Earlier this year I tried to find a gym closer to my home, I moved to Riverside and stopped coming to Mo-mentum (big mistake) while I was looking. I couldn’t find my place so I stopped working out. Mentally I started struggling without my support, I was getting depressed, gaining back some weight all because I had gone back to my old ways. Deep down I knew I had already found my tribe at Mo-mentum, so now I’m back on track.
These days, what makes truly happy and feel at peace?
-There are several things. Being with my family and friends. Working out and having a good time while doing it. Hiking, I love hiking especially in Washington. There’s something so peaceful about be surrounded by nature.
How do you feel compared to 1 year ago?
-I feel great!
Specifics: age, job title, children, spouse?
– I’m 50, which shocks me sometimes, lol. I work as a Registrar at a vocational school, I’ve been there 20 years. I have two beautiful daughters, Emily is 25, Hannah is 23 and my fur baby, Cashew is 1 and half. I’ve been married for 26 years to my wonderful husband, Jeff.
